How to override an RFID lock

Overriding an RFID lock allows authorized personnel to access the lock by using a valid Manager Credential or Programming Key. This is useful in situations where a user misplaces their User Credential or forgets which locker they have access to. Locks both in Shared Use and Assigned Use can be overridden.

Shared Use

In Shared Use functionality (a red LED will flash when hand is presented to an RFID lock), when a lock remains unlocked after being overridden by a valid Manager Credential or Programming Key, it becomes available for a different user. However, if the lock is relocked using the Manager Credential or Programming Key, the original User Credential will still occupy the lock. The following instructions apply to RFID locks in Shared Use with or without Digilock Mobile Access.

Override with a Manager Credential

Click on either the Deadbolt tab or Cam tab to view the instructions that pertain to your lock.

Unlock: Insert a valid Manager Key or present a valid Manager RFID Credential. Open the door.

Relock: Close the door. Insert a valid Manager Key or present a valid Manager RFID Credential.*

Unlock:

  1. Insert a valid Manager Key or present a valid Manager RFID Credential.

  2. Turn the knob to the unlocked position. Open the door.

Relock:

  1. Close the door. Insert a valid Manager Key or present a valid Manager RFID Credential.

  2. Turn the knob to the locked position.*

Override with a Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential

If your RFID lock is Digilock Mobile Access enabled — meaning it includes a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) chip — you can operate it using your mobile device in addition to the Manager RFID Credentials and Keys. This section is specifically for managers with this capability and will guide you through the steps to override your RFID lock using the Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential through the app. If you need to download the Digilock Mobile Access app, click here.

Click on either the Deadbolt tab or Cam tab to view the instructions that pertain to your lock.

Unlock:

  1. Tap the Press to Start button on a valid Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential.

  2. Present hand to lock.

  3. Present the Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential to the lock.

  4. The Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential will show that it has successfully unlocked. Open the door.

Relock:

  1. Close the door. Tap the Press to Start button on a valid Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential.

  2. Present hand to lock.

  3. Present the Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential to the lock.

  4. The Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential will show that it has successfully locked.*

Unlock:

  1. Tap the Press to Start button on a valid Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential.

  2. Present hand to lock.

  3. Present the Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential to the lock.

  4. Turn the knob to the unlocked position. The Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential will show that it has successfully unlocked. Open the door.

Relock:

  1. Close the door. Tap the Press to Start button on a valid Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential.

  2. Present hand to lock.

  3. Present the Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential to the lock.

  4. Turn the knob to the locked position. The Manager Digilock Mobile Access Credential will show that it has successfully locked.*

Override with the Programming Key

Click on either the Deadbolt tab or Cam tab to view the instructions that pertain to your lock.

Unlock: Present hand to lock, then insert the Programming Key. Open the door.

Relock: Close the door. Present hand to lock, then insert the Programming Key.*

Unlock:

  1. Present hand to lock, then insert the Programming Key.

  2. Turn the knob to the unlocked position. Open the door.

Relock:

  1. Close the door. Present hand to lock, then insert the Programming Key.

  2. Turn the knob to the locked position.*

Assigned Use

In Assigned Use functionality (a green LED will flash when hand is presented to an RFID lock), when a lock is unlocked by a valid Manager Credential or Programming Key, the assigned User Credential(s) will still have access to the lock. The following instructions apply to RFID locks in Assigned Use with or without Digilock Mobile Access.
